The Friends Lottery Open Monument Day is organized every year in the second (full) weekend of September by the Netherlands Monumentenland Foundation in collaboration with more than 300 local committees and 18,000 volunteers throughout the country. Thousands of monuments open their doors to the general public throughout the Netherlands during Open Monument Day, in order to increase public interest in monuments and support for monument care. Countless activities are also organised: exhibitions, guided tours, cycle routes, walks, music performances, but also many activities for young people.
